About Us

I started my business in Sydney in 2009 after requests from friends who wanted me to fix and build things after seeing furniture I had made or restored in the small flat we lived in. I have always been handy and made and fixed things for relaxation and entertainment during my time as a specialist school teacher, which I did for 18 years. I was ready for a change and jumped in, filling the gaps in my knowledge job by job. I have a talent for problem solving, relying a lot on the ability to look at things and visualise how they work or were made and reverse engineering. In the beginning I did every job that came my way which lead to a steep learning curve. I am also good with people, able to pay attention and ask questions to find out what they need from me. I built a lot of interesting decks, fences and gates and small repairs. I also got to build some nice furniture and designed and built a number of space saving modifications including mezzanine sleeping areas, one stow away bed, built in robes with doors in them to make one room into two and under stair storage modifications. When we moved to Adelaide I continued to expand my range. I have a lot of experience after fifteen years and I am still learning. On a renovation or shop fit out I can be doing anything from masonry repairs, second fix carpentry, door and lock installation and repairs, bathroom installations and general painting work to designing and building cabinets. I do a lot of roof and gutter repairs as well as restoring water damaged exterior timbers. I do high access work.

FAQs

What information do I need to provide you with for a competitive quote?

My basic day rate is $520 per day for an eight hour day. That's what I aim to make per day as a minimum. If I have to break up a day for smaller jobs I charge a callout for the first hour of $130, then charge $65 per hour from the second hour onwards so I still have a chance to make my day rate. If I need to quote it takes time to prepare and I risk not getting paid for my time so I must charge more than my normal rates. Quotes cost time. The more trust we can develop during the quoting process, the more likely that we will both get what we need out of the arrangement.

Why should I hire you over another business?

The question almost nobody ever asks is about the quality of the work and the impact of the work, especially in a home, in terms of disruption, mess and hassle. I am very intelligent, sensitive to people's needs, highly skilled and I put everything into my work to achieve the best result possible within the budget. I do the work properly because I guarantee my work and I want referrals and repeat business. The cheapest price is not necessarily the best value. I will look after you.

Do you offer a guarantee on the work that you carry out?

I always do my best work and I am honest about what you will get for your money. I guarantee my work and I almost never have to go back to fix mistakes and failed work.
